• A Brief History of Our Founder

Our Founder, Jon F. Kirk, began his working life with Revenue Canada (now Canada Revenue Agency)      in 1960.

From 1965 to 1976 he was always involved with part-time self-employment. Some of his achievements in those years were:

• Professional Entertainer in the Country & Western field.

•  

• Manufactured and sold “Blue Genie” a biodegradable cleaning product.

•  

• Built and owned Interstellar Sound Studios, a recording studio for the purpose of making “demo” recordings  for  budding musicians and bands.

In 1976, Jon resigned from Revenue Canada and embarked on a career in many different fields to satisfy his thirst for knowledge and achievement. Some of these achievements were as follows:

• President and CEO of The Music Post Limited, a music school with sales, rental, import and distribution of musical instruments and accessories.

•  

• Vice-President and CFO of Canadian Balcony Enclosures Ltd., a manufacturer and installer of canvas curtains to enclose apartment balconies.

•  

• Vice-President and audit technician of Tri-Counsel Ltd., an accounting and bookkeeping firm with a wide variety of clients.

•  

• Treasurer and CFO of The Toronto Advertising Club, a private club with a liquor licence for people in the advertising and sales industry.

•  

• Jon quit professional music in 1995 as the bassist with the Trackside Jazzband in Toronto, but he still can be found relaxing on his boat with a guitar in his hands.

With 16 years of Public Service and 28 years as an entrepreneur, the knowledge he has acquired can only be beneficial to the Small Business operator, whether it be a single Proprietorship or a Corporation with several employees.

About our Company

In 1980, while he was still Treasurer of The Toronto Advertising Club, Jon decided to open his own accounting and bookkeeping firm under the name J.F. Kirk & Associates and rapidly built up a clientele of self-employed individuals in a wide variety of industries.

In 1993, he changed the name of the Company to The Professional Services Group which is now our Parent Company.

We have a wide variety of clientele which include, to mention a few, lawyers, musicians, actors, construction workers, retail sales, bars & restaurants and a several hundred employed persons as income tax clients.

We believe in giving our clients the best service possible at an affordable rate. We go to great lengths to teach our clients as much as we can about the operation of their business. If requested, we will teach them how to do the day-to-day bookkeeping that is necessary for them to understand their profit (loss) and cash flow.
